THIS IS GOOD

Do you ever feel like you have so much stuff swimming around in your head? Like you can’t turn your brain off? Yeah me too! And that’s why I write and why you should too. You can just unload everything onto the page and then voila; all of a sudden you’ve created more space. It’s very much like yoga. You just show up and let your stuff dissipate onto the mat. Sometimes you gain a new perspective or hell; perhaps there’s a moment of clarity. But let’s be real – sometimes it’s just messy and that’s ok too. I’ve done a lot of messy  ...

TRY THIS …

Today is one of those days … you know … EVERY day now is one of those days. EVERY day is National celebrate something day …. Today, June 21st is National Onion Rings Day, National HVAC Tech Day, and National Chocolate Eclair Day (oh that sounds good!) And then we have International celebrate something day. And today my friends, the United Nations proclaimed back in December of 2014, that June 21st is International Day of Yoga.  Now before any of my peeps who “proclaim” they aren’t yogis stop reading this; please take 60 seconds to consider this. REST IN PEACE

The following is for my fellow yogis AKA Love Warriors in teacher training with me at Power Yoga of Cape Cod (even if you aren’t a yogi there is value in reading the post!) Fellow yogis, calling hours will be held tomorrow at 8:30 am in Dennisport, MA followed by a celebration of life at 9:15 am led by Jill Abraham. For the past 7 months we have witnessed death and may I say it has been absolutely beautiful. We have held space for one another, quietly watching as masks have been removed and buried; as lies have been laid to rest; and as old ways of being slowly fade away just like  ...

KEEP DOING THIS…

It has been a year now since I signed a legally binding form terminating my job. I voluntarily walked away with 2 weeks pay and not a clue of who I was or what I had become. What would I be trading my scrubs & stethoscope for? I had absolutely no idea. It took MORE than just the trauma of my brother’s accident. It took MORE than witnessing his death. It took YEARS and YEARS of watching people die to wake me up. It sounds crazy but the fact of the matter is we all have our own timeline. Our own unique path. You will never walk in my shoes; nor will I ever stand in yours. But we  ...

The Yin and the Yang

I’ve been on this journey of practicing yoga for exactly 4 years now. I started practicing when the counselor I was seeing at the time highly recommended it. So I did some quick research and found a studio near my house. It offered a hot and humid room of 105 degrees with a 90 minute class. I took my first class and I was hooked. The marathoner and Ironman in me was stoked. Not only would I get to de-stress and stretch, but I would get a workout in too. Sweet! I went back to see my counselor. I told her I found a studio I loved. She was excited and then asked me about it. So I went  ...

THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

There are lots of things in our lives that are non-negotiable. We have to eat. We have to sleep. We have to x, y, z____.  But have you ever stopped to question; to identify the other non-negotiables in your life? The things that you have to do to keep you whole. The things you love to do. The things that if you don’t do or make negotiable will start to chip away at your body, mind, or spirit. How many times have you made a promise to yourself only to have broken the deal half way down the road? Perhaps you are like me and have countless broken promises littering the street in your  ...
