TRY THIS …

Today is one of those days … you know … EVERY day now is one of those days. EVERY day is National celebrate something day …. Today, June 21st is National Onion Rings Day, National HVAC Tech Day, and National Chocolate Eclair Day (oh that sounds good!) And then we have International celebrate something day. And today my friends, the United Nations proclaimed back in December of 2014, that June 21st is International Day of Yoga.  Now before any of my peeps who “proclaim” they aren’t yogis stop reading this; please take 60 seconds to consider this. HOW TO TAKE CONTROL

It’s that time of year (again). How many of you just want to hibernate right now? I know I do. How many of you have let the motivation of a New Year fade away? Has anyone noticed how your old habits have crept back in? For me, this is a time of year that is particularly difficult. Not just because the East Coast seems to be blanketed by heavy gray clouds. Not just because I have lost some steam and see old habits seeping back into my life, but because grief knocks on my door every winter. Just about 5 years ago I watched my brother’s life slip away in front of my very eyes. As a critical  ...

The ONLY way to travel

I have to give credit to an amazing woman, Colette Baron-Reid, who introduced me to this word, coddiwomple, which is defined as traveling in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination. The minute I read about the word on Colette’s blog my soul was screaming, “YES! YES! YES!” This is what the journey is all about. I’ve had people ask me where I’m going with all that I have been creating and the truth is I HAVE NO CLUE. The destination is vague my friends, but now I have a fun new word to define my action; my journey of curiosity and experience.  ...

HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?

Would you agree that things are happening all the time in this world? 24/7. 365 days a year. People are getting married. They are getting divorced. There are babies being born and babies dying. There are car accidents and flat tires. There are the helping hands of strangers and the nameless financial contributors. Even on a small scale, things are happening. ALL. THE. TIME. Just this morning my kindergartner spilled his cup of milk and then he spilled his cereal. I came home from preschool drop off to a surprise gift from an anonymous person in our mailbox. Good, bad, or indifferent  ...

LISTEN UP

HELLO!?!?! Yes YOU …. LISTEN UP. It’s about to get real here. Really f’ing real. Really f’ing spiritual. I can hear some of you now, “There she goes again; gettin’ all Namaste and shit.” Well yes, I am gettin’ all Namaste on you right now. Because you know why?!? The Universe is speaking. It is speaking louder than ever before and it’s not going to give up until you give it the attention it deserves. Yes that’s right; I said deserves. Because… YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE AND THE UNIVERSE IS YOU. WITHOUT YOU THERE IS NOTHING. YOU  ...

THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

There are lots of things in our lives that are non-negotiable. We have to eat. We have to sleep. We have to x, y, z____.  But have you ever stopped to question; to identify the other non-negotiables in your life? The things that you have to do to keep you whole. The things you love to do. The things that if you don’t do or make negotiable will start to chip away at your body, mind, or spirit. How many times have you made a promise to yourself only to have broken the deal half way down the road? Perhaps you are like me and have countless broken promises littering the street in your  ...

A LESSON OF VALUE

What do you do for work? Sound familiar? How many times do we ask others this question? How many times have you been asked? When I worked at New England Organ Bank as a donation coordinator I used to joke that someday I was going to respond that I was a “button pusher.” It was challenging to describe all the facets of the role. One “task” I was responsible for was allocating precious life saving organs. This is done electronically with 1 simple push of a button. Hence the idea to say I was a “button pusher.” I was deeply affected by my work with the New  ...

Chocolate, coconut, or nougat?

Forrest Gump wasn’t kidding. Life IS like a box of chocolates. So how did I get here? How did I arrive at this point in my life? As I spent time reflecting about this today, I felt a warm smile spread across my face. I started a blog back in 2007 so that my family & friends could follow my 2nd Ironman journey. It was then I discovered a love for writing and I just kept blogging away. Never in my wildest dreams, would I have known how much writing would play such an important part of my life. The following is an excerpt I wrote in December 2012 from my blog Anything Is Possible:  ...
