THE TRUTH ABOUT NOT GIVING A F***

This summer I read The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK by Mark Manson. Honestly, I had forgotten about the book until today when I realized and admitted I was caught in a moment of not giving a f*ck. But in that startling moment, deep down I really did give a f*ck; I was just pretending on the outside I didn’t give a f*ck in order to maintain the facade of a calm and confident woman. When really inside, I felt like I was teetering on the edge of DEFCON 1 i.e. nuclear war. Does anyone have a f*ckin’ clue what I am talking about?!? We’ve all had those moments, right?! You  ...

THE TRUTH ABOUT PARENTS

So I’m working on writing a little more “dangerously.” What exactly does this mean? It means telling the truth, being brutally honest, and facing fear of judgement. Ironically, one of the 25 things you don’t have time to read about me is that I am judgmental. This is something I am shameful for. So I have fear surrounding the whole “write dangerously” concept, because I am afraid of judgement. I fear something that we as humans are naturally wired for! I fear something we all do to one another on a daily basis. I can hear the little voice now,  ...

THIS IS GOOD

Do you ever feel like you have so much stuff swimming around in your head? Like you can’t turn your brain off? Yeah me too! And that’s why I write and why you should too. You can just unload everything onto the page and then voila; all of a sudden you’ve created more space. It’s very much like yoga. You just show up and let your stuff dissipate onto the mat. Sometimes you gain a new perspective or hell; perhaps there’s a moment of clarity. But let’s be real – sometimes it’s just messy and that’s ok too. I’ve done a lot of messy  ...

LOVE WINS

Ok here it goes. On this sad day in America when so many lives were lost to another episode of gun violence, I find myself reunited with what burns deep within me. A desire to be seen and heard in this world. As a woman and a mother, I believe it is crucial now more than ever to live as beautiful, BOLD, and juicy as possible. It is time to share our stories. It is time to stop hiding. It is time to come out into the light and be messy honest with ourselves so that we can connect; so that we can love and heal together. So this evening this is where I am. I would love to hear where you are  ...

be BEAUTIFUL. come from we are connected. be out in the world with people. get out of your head and into your heart. be kind and compassionate. start with you.   be BOLD. have the courage to explore; to discover; to pursue your passion. be relentless in your pursuit and fearless in your faith. dare greatly. be brave. drop the past and embrace the present. let go. let yourself be seen. you are worth it.   be JUICY. drink deeply from the well of life. be unique. create and cultivate the authentic threads you are destined to weave. welcome curiosity and let it flow through you. be  ...

PB & J or BB & J?

Well I was going to write about my recent juice cleanse experience but let’s face it – it’s not that exciting. But it was a beautiful, bold, and literally juicy experience 🙂 So tonight I’m going with PB & J vs. BB & J. Peanut butter and jelly versus what?! Wait peanut butter and jelly?! Yes I’m talking about that boring, tired, sad little sandwich we all consumed as kids. Yes that crustless, mostly empty calorie sandwich you might make every single damn day for your blessed cherubs. Have you ever wondered why it was and still remains a go to? Why was  ...

HAPPY (EARLY) NEW YEAR

I said it last year and I’ll say it again. September is the new January. It is the perfect time to evaluate where you are; right here, right now – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Perhaps you had an epic summer full of friends & family, sun, and fun. Or perhaps you worked a lot and beached it too little. Regardless, here you are. Treating September like January helps to keep us from getting stuck in the same old song and dance routine we are used to performing.  I do want to acknowledge though that saying good-bye to the previous “year” AKA summer can be  ...

DEAR TOURISTS

As the 4th of July is rapidly approaching, what better time to write this letter? So here it goes, from 1 Cape Codder to a fellow human … Dear Visitor, Tourist, or (as my dad always called “them”) “Timmie’s, It is summer. Ah summer! Arguably one of the best times of the year. Or is it? It depends on who you ask. If you ask my father you will get an earful about how “everything has changed.” How town is full of Timmies and nothing is the same anymore. How he can’t go ANYWHERE because of traffic. Ah yes, summer. SUMMER LOCAL – SUMMER NOT  ...

REST IN PEACE

The following is for my fellow yogis AKA Love Warriors in teacher training with me at Power Yoga of Cape Cod (even if you aren’t a yogi there is value in reading the post!) Fellow yogis, calling hours will be held tomorrow at 8:30 am in Dennisport, MA followed by a celebration of life at 9:15 am led by Jill Abraham. For the past 7 months we have witnessed death and may I say it has been absolutely beautiful. We have held space for one another, quietly watching as masks have been removed and buried; as lies have been laid to rest; and as old ways of being slowly fade away just like  ...

HOW TO BE A WARRIOR

The word warrior is getting a lot of of use these days. Can’t imagine why…just can’t seem to put a finger on it (so she says with just a smidge of sarcasm). Could it just be because people are starting to wake the H – E – double hockey sticks up!?! I mean look around people! We live in a fake it till you make it, numbed out, distracted society. The most recent study I read at the end of last year states one in six Americans take some kind of psychiatric drugs — mostly antidepressants. I myself used to be a consumer of Zoloft. As unconscious as the world may  ...
