TRUTH IN THE STARS

EACH OF US IS HERE FOR A BRIEF SOJURN; FOR WHAT PURPOSE HE KNOWS NOT, THOUGH HE SOMETIMES THINKS HE SENSES IT. BUT WITHOUT DEEPER REFLECTION ONE KNOWS FROM DAILY LIFE THAT ONE EXISTS FOR OTHER PEOPLE. – ALBERT EINSTEIN

Yesterday I listened to Danielle LaPorte’s first podcast. The whole fam was piled in the car as we headed out to western Massachusetts for my bestie’s son’s 2nd birthday party. I was hungry to listen to this because  Danielle is as real as real gets. I waited until both boys fell asleep and then pressed play. For the next hour it was like she was sitting in the passenger seat with me. That’s how she makes you feel. She makes you feel so connected even through the vast space of the world wide inter-web. While listening I learned that almost all stars are born in pairs. Pretty cool I thought. And being the curious type, I read the actual research on this that came out of UC Berkeley and Harvard. Amazing.

I love anything and everything that makes you look at the Universe through a different lens; that expands your worldview. It is hard to believe that which we cannot see. It requires deep faith; trust. I know I certainly wasn’t taught these things growing up. I’ve had to unlearn all I was taught. This process of unlearning is never ending. There’s always an opportunity to unearth something deeper; to uproot some limiting belief; some old story.

Over a year ago I completed an exercise from Danielle’s book, THE FIRESTARTER SESSIONS. I just happened to come across this in my journal. I like to read back through what I wrote a year ago to witness my growth. To remember where I was and to know where I am now. I’ll share my worldview from January 2017 with you. Tonight I’ll go back and revisit my current worldview and see what has changed.

If you’re feeling curious I would love to read you worldview! Take a look at the bolded statements and then write down the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no right or wrong. It simply is a picture of your own paradigm and if there is something you don’t like; that doesn’t feel good, then YOU get to change that. You get to change the lens. You get to gaze through the telescope, discover something new, and open yourself up to new possibilities.

January 2017

I think that most people are … doing their best

I believe that life is … a journey full of lessons

I hold the opinion that … we all carry wounds

I’m the kind of person who … wants people to step out of the box

I relate to people who … are on a journey of self discovery

I love people who … are courageously authentic

People who think that … “they can’t do it” make me … frustrated

My evil twin would be very … judgmental

I have faith that … everything will work out

I see my work as a means to … serve others

What I value most in myself is … my strength

What I value most in other people is … their sincerity

I cherish working with people who … are open to growth.

KEEP GOING MY FRIEND.

YOU ARE AMAZING.

XO – Emily
