THE ANSWER TO YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM
I recently conducted a survey. One of the questions I asked people was, “What is your biggest problem?” 78% of you responded that balancing life was your biggest issue. I am here to solve that problem. The solution just came to me last night as I was reading ‘THE FIRE STARTER SESSIONS‘ by Danielle LaPorte. And let me tell you, it has already helped me to live lighter today! (Hence why I am leaving the groceries out on the counter and why the blender hasn’t been washed yet.) So here is the answer…
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LIFE BALANCE
Really. There is no such thing. So just get that crazy idea out of your head. The quest for life balance is actually bringing you more stress. Since 78% of you said that was your biggest problem and now that the problem is solved don’t you feel better!?
If you don’t believe me think of it this way. Think of all the daily tasks you would like complete to keep your dwelling in order; like laundry and cooking. Now think about all the beating hearts in this world that you love; like your family, friends, and pets. Then think about the responsibilities that your job demands. Are you able to have all the tasks completed while giving big love to all the people and animals in your life while also pouring 100% effort into your job? Hell no. For those people that say, “Yes.” They are either lacking passion in their life or are hiding behind a mask. And to them I would ask, “Where is there any balance in that?”
So stop trying to achieve life balance. Stop searching for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Stop wasting your most valuable assets; your time and energy. JUST STOP IT. It does not exist. But here is what can exist – life harmony. Put your passions before your tasks. That is where the harmony lies. So leave the dishes in the sink until morning and read that book. Leave the laundry in the basket and paint that picture instead. Push the toys aside in the living room and get out your guitar; get out your journal; or unroll your yoga mat. By doing this you are not falling short. You are honoring who you are. Let go of trying to balance it all. That, my friend, is one of the first steps to freedom.
