So here you are. You’ve reached the end of 2016. Another year older; another year wiser. I can picture you sitting in your kitchen or perhaps on the couch drinking coffee and reflecting on the past year all the while full of hope and inspiration for the new year ahead. I can hear you all now….This is going to be THE year. This will be MY year. The year of less stress, no excuses, better health, and a balanced life. I can hear you because I am you.

Perhaps you are starting off the new year with a cleanse, a new nutritional program, or some type of 30 day challenge. You are fired up. Ready to go. Ready to say buh-bye 2016…don’t let the door hit you in the a**! How can you NOT be excited about a new beginning?!? But before you go rushing into all your hopes and dreams for 2017 I invite you all to take some time and honor 2016. Get out a piece of paper, your journal, or anything you can write on and jot down a review of 2016.

Cherish the moments, all of them, even the ups and downs. Cherish the places you’ve visited, the people you’ve seen. Say good-bye to those whose journeys have called them someplace else. Know you can always call them back by thinking loving thoughts. Know all those you love will be there for you when you need then most. Honor the lessons you’ve learned, and the people who helped you learn them. Honor the journey your soul mapped out for you. Trust all the places you’ve been. – “Journey To The Heart” by Melody Beattie

Personally 2016 did not disappoint when it came to the ups and downs. I started off the year at absolute rock bottom. Depression – check. Anxiety – check. PTSD – check. Suicidal ideations – check. A complete nervous breakdown.

Lowlights of 2016: The breakdown, foot injury, the holidays, body shaming, and periods of disconnection from my husband.

Highlights of 2016: The breakthrough. Business launch. Yoga teacher training. Connecting with my grandmother & brother in spirit. Off of anti-depressant.

Goals for 2017 (just a sneak peek!): Kripalu retreat. Book launch. Landmark Forum.

Remember the words you were told when the last adventure began, the words whispered quietly to your heart: Let the journey unfold. Let it be magical. The way has been prepared. People will be expecting you. Yes, you are being led.          – “Journey To The Heart” by Melody Beattie
