IT’S FREE (and awesome)
To all my readers and BYCC friends, let’s take a minute to honor something that is vital to our existence. Without this we would not be able to survive. No I’m not talking about coffee 🙂 But you can’t have coffee without this critical ingredient. Yes, you guessed it. I’m talking about water. H two the O. I have a mild love affair with it which I think is common for those of us Cancer Cape Cod native folks 🙂
Water is absolute liquid awesome. And did you know more than half of your bodacious bod is made up of this liquid awesomeness?!? I have been aware of this fact for a long time and also been aware of how important hydration is, especially during the summer. We all can agree that this is not rocket science. Water helps me, helps all of us to live lighter. I am here to share my practice and perhaps inspire one or two of you to drink more liquid awesome 🙂
A healthy body is a hydrated body
A morning practice of mine is to drink warm lemon water. I fill a large mason jar with water and an entire lemon squeezed in. I drink it while I begin writing and waiting for the coffee to brew. For those of us that are sweating a lot, it’s really important to take in some extra electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, etc) and this is what the lemon provides. Drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning also kick starts your digestion and is great for your metabolism.
- Lemons are a phenomenal source of Vitamin C
- Lemons are a good source of Vitamin B6, potassium, folic acid, and flavonoids
- Proper hydration is key if you are trying to lose weight
- Drinking water at mealtimes is conducive to weight loss.
- Healthier, younger looking skin
- Increased energy
- Less aches and pains
- Constipated? Drink more water!
I try to drink 2 liters of water per day. I have felt maximum benefits when I drink 3 liters. I have found it easier to take in 3 liters when I start my morning with that large mason jar. Sure you will have to visit the loo more often but I rather do that than be dehydrated. Being dehydrated is one of the worst feelings. I know I feel sluggish and tired when I don’t drink enough. When I get bored with the lemon water I switch to limes, mint, cucumber, or whatever fruit I have hanging around. You can also throw in a bit of Himalayan salt to your lemon water or even make your own Gatorade with apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon, & and of course liquid awesome.
So drink up! Toast to your health, grab a lemon, and give it a good squeeze. Here’s to YOU my friend! May your cup always runneth over and your pee be clear.
