ELIMINATE THIS 1 WORD
I invite you to sit down and make a list of what you think you truly need. Chances are you already have all the things you wrote down. If we look at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and focus solely on the largest, most fundamental of needs; our physiologic needs, than I am certain you have all these as well. I will never forget the first moment I was coached to pay attention to the language that was coming out of my mouth. I was in the changing room at the yoga studio. I tell ya, so many beautiful, bold, and juicy things happen there. But I digress, that is another post for another time.
I was absolutely struck by how often the word “need” mindlessly came out of my mouth. I invite you to start paying attention to how often you use the word “need.” Examine the context in which you use the word. Are you actually thinking, “I want to” or perhaps “I deserve to” or better yet “I get to”? Try eliminating the word “need” from your vocabulary. Just try. I find that it becomes easier and easier to eradicate this word. Sure it still slips out every now and again. We are human. Our brain will always default to old patterns. But the beauty of it all is that our brain is malleable.
Create a new path. Start becoming more aware of what comes out of your mouth. It may just change your life.
